Again could your Government be induced to assist

us to establish our claim to the control of the Chinese

Office by a consideration of the following facts:-

1: The Chinese Office was from the beginning a branch

office of the Kwangtung Administration:

2. The Chinese Office was under the control of the

Kwangtung Administration and not that of Peking

and the Manager thereto was always appointed by

the Director of the Kwangtung Administration.

3. The Canton-Hongkong lines, from Canton to Sumchun

are owned and maintained by the Kwangtung Administ-

ration:

The Chinese Office should be at Sumchun and if it

were there the Peking Administration could never

take control of it;

5.

The Chinese Office is in the same position as the

Shameen and Chinshan Offices; These are under the

control of the Kwangtung Administration and so

should the Hongkong Chinese Office:

You will concede that our clain is good, but it seems that

we only lack the sympathy and support of your Government

and the Cable Companies. In the interest of the public

especially these of Shameen could you not see your way and use your great influence with your Government and the Cable Companies so as to enable us to regain our central over the Hongkong Chinese Telegraph Office? Will you please advise

us as to the best course te take in this matter.

you, and hope that you will be able to assist us to get out

of the the present deadlock.
